Silverstone, 1992. With Mansell-mania at its height, the British Grand Prix was overrun with fans keen on seeing ‘Red 5’ take victory in his home race. Mansell, in his all dominant FW14b, qualified on pole a full 1.9secs ahead of his teammate Patrese.
In the race, Patrese would lead into turn 1 but Mansell soon repassed the Italian and went on to pull a gap of some 39secs on field by the end of the race. It was an emphatic victory which was met with the now famous scenes of fans invading the track as the cars still circulated.
Some of my earliest memories of watching this sport involve cheering on ‘Our Nige’ every other Sunday so it was high time to produce a print featuring one of my childhood heroes.
This design is now available as an A2 fine art giclée print, in my online Print Shop.
